Polyurethane is the abbreviation of polyurethane.
All polymer compounds containing many repeated - NH - C - O - groups in the main chain of polymer are generally called polyurethane.
Generally, polyurethane is obtained by the interaction of binary or multiple organic isocyanates and polyol compounds.
Foamed plastic is one of the main varieties of polyurethane synthetic materials. Its main characteristic is porosity, so its relative density is small and its specific strength is high. According to the changes of raw materials and formulations, soft, semi hard and rigid polyurethane foam plastics can be made. According to the polyols used, they can be classified into polyester, polyether and castor oil type polyurethane foam. If they are classified according to their foaming methods, there are also types of block, molded and sprayed polyurethane foam.
1952 was the year when the polyurethane industry started, because the excellent performance of polyurethane has been recognized before. However, because of the high price and the economic barrier, the development of industry has been hindered. Until 1952, Bayer reported the research results of polyurethane flexible polyurethane foam, which changed the situation. Soft polyurethane foam is light in weight, low in density and high in specific strength. These characteristics have laid a foundation for the wider application of polyurethane.
